WHAT FLAG IS THIS?
This is the American flag you see each morning flying proudly in front of our school.
In 2007, a few staff members decided to see how many places we can take our school’s American flag. From coast to coast and even some stops across the big pond (The Atlantic Ocean), our school flag has accumulated a lot of travel miles!
A CHANGE OF GUARD:
We have used the same flag since 2007. It has become a bit worn flying over our school for this amount of time.
THE FINAL FLIGHT: Our flag took its last flight in Boston, Massachusetts. On this journey, our flag flew for a few minutes high on the mast of the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides), which is the oldest ship in the United States Navy. It is docked in the Charleston Ship Yard. Our flag will be put in a nice case and will be put on display at the school soon.
THE FINAL TRIP: Our flag took the final trip to New York City on the 10th anniversary of September 11th. This is hard to put on words so be sure to view the pictures of the flag’s final journey. The final picture is with the Twin Towers Lights Memorial.

9-11 MEMORIAL VIDEO: Our flag has been to all the sites of September 11, 2001. Please click here to see an inspiring video of our flag at the 9-11 sites, including New York City on the 10th year anniversary (9-11-2011)
OUR NEW FLAG:
We got a new American flag from the USS Constitution, which will now serve as the school flag for Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School. The new flag was also flown on the USS Constitution for a few minutes as the transition became official. Our new flag has begun its journey the same way our old flag ended its journey.
